The problem (original)

The golden nitrogen reservoir of the GS models uses a plastic separating piston ex works. This often leaks, causing nitrogen to migrate into the oil. The result: damping decreases, the chassis becomes spongy and no longer responds to adjustments.

Our solution: Membrane

We convert your suspension strut to a modern diaphragm system. The rubber diaphragm permanently separates gas and oil. This prevents pressure loss and ensures butter-soft response behaviour without breakaway torque.

Diagnosis: When the ESA no longer switches

If the damping (Sport/Comfort) can no longer be adjusted at all, there is often corrosion on the servomotor. We check the electronics and replace defective motors so that your system is fully functional again.

BMW ESA: Load status can no longer be changed?

A frequent and annoying problem on BMW models with ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment): The damping (Sport, Normal, Comfort) can still be regulated, but when trying to adjust the Spring preload (the symbols for „One helmet“, „Luggage“ or „Two helmets“), nothing happens. The symbol on the display often just flashes permanently or the display simply jumps back to the old setting after a short time.

What is the cause?

  • Stuck mechanics: Corrosion inside the suspension struts prevents movement.
  • Defective servomotor: Overload or wear of the electric motor.
  • Loss of calibration: The control unit "forgets" the end stops of the motor.
  • Electronic damage / Hall sensor: The position sensor does not provide correct data.

Do I have to buy an expensive new original suspension strut?

No! Many workshops immediately advise a complete replacement, which can quickly cost €1,500 to €2,000 for BMW. As a specialist in suspension technology, we can offer you a much more economical solution:
